mouth-watering scrumptious.

Troop 185 can start updating our Activity, Advancement and Roster information
beginning April 1, 8 a.m. ET depending on the amount of camper fees paid.
TROOP 185 THESE ARE JUST SOME OF THE EXTRA PROGRAMS WE SIGNED UP FOR
Tuesday we have
ZIP LINE: A favorite activity involving a slide for life down a steel cable that ends with a refreshing
plunge into Lester Pond. A great activity right after rock climbing or a hike up Mt. Stevens. All Scouts
who have passed the swimmers test may participate.
Wednesday we have
WHITE WATER RAFTING: Meet the challenges of rapids on the swift flowing Sacandaga River.
Whitewater Rafting is a half day program.
Thursday we have
ROCK CLIMBING AND RAPPELLING: Gives the Scouts the chance
to climb and rappel (30 ft on Stevens Mountain) under the direct supervision
and belay of a climbing instructor.
and
INDOOR CLIMBING WALL: Indoor wall was scheduled for climb in case of rain.
It has also become an evening favorite and, in addition, is an
excellent experience for young Scouts that will prepare them for climbing and rappelling outdoors. Scouts
are harnessed and belayed at all times while on the wall.
Friday we have
Trail Rides Eight Scouts can take part in a hour-long activity, which includes basic instruction and riding.
Friday we also have
CAVING IN WAUBEEKA: Waubeeka hosts a series of underground caves; a dry cave
and a wet cave which involves nearly total submersion in water to complete. They were formed as the river
that runs through the valley went underground and eroded the bedrock. The Ecology program areas in both
Buckskin and Waubeeka lead groups through one or both of these caves depending on the
groups preference. Scouts receive a basic introduction to spelunking during this activity. Shoes that can
get wet and a flashlight (preferably waterproof) are required.

April Camp out
April we are backpacking in the great outdoors.
Theme is cooking, are you ready to test your back packing skills?
24 hours of Backpacking
Rule: For 24 hours of overnight backpacking trips you must cook “REAL FOOD”
No ‘just add boiling water’, Menu’s must be approved prior to trip by the SPL.
This means you can not use ‘Mountain House or similar meals for the backpack trip.
Adult Leaders when you accompany the troop on a backpacking trip you must follow these same guidelines.
Why? – we require this so the boys actually experience the intended
Boy Scout patrol group cooking where they plan, provision and cook together.
We also do this so they can enjoy great food in the outdoors, think more
about their food options and typically pay less than buying ‘just add water’ food.
Why 24 hours?
Keeping real food fresh becomes challenging after 24 hours.

Fire Kills, you can prevent it.
This is a powerful message----watch the video and don't forget what you see.
This is a dramatic video about how to deal with a common kitchen fire ... oil in a frying pan.
Please read the following introduction and then watch the show .. It's a real eye-opener !!
A Kitchen Oil Fire
Video Embed Player by VideoLightBox.com v1.7
The water, being heavier than the oil, sinks to the bottom where it instantly becomes superheated.
The explosive force of the steam blows the burning oil up and out. On the open field,
it became a thirty foot high fireball that resembled a nuclear blast. Inside the confines of a kitchen,
the fire ball hits the ceiling and fills the entire room.
